What is Galaxy-Online – The Tournament about?
Galaxy Online – The Tournament is a free massive online strategy game set in the distant future. You are in control of a corporation. Your mission is to build/trade/upgrade and manage your fleet of spaceships. Together with your federation, your fleet will compete in a huge tournament where you work your way up the ladder and gain control over more regions in the new galaxy. For further information you can find the storyline on http://www.galaxy-online.com

What are the main activities in Galaxy Online?
- Buy / Sell / Trade components from a vast assortment of different technologies. Create your own unique components by using a special upgrade system.
- Create / Trade your custom spaceships by assembling your components together.
- Manage and train your commanders and engineers to make them more viable and get access to better technology.
- Gather and sell different types of resources within a simple but dynamic economy system.
- Access different types of tournaments to compete with your opponents or train your commanders against your friend's spaceships...

How about the gameplay?
In Galaxy Online you only give basic commands/orders via the user interface. All the actions are carried out automatically and don't need direct interaction. So while you are offline your actions will continue. You don't need to play actively while you are waiting for the different actions to complete. This allows for a very convenient and casual friendly play style.

How does spaceship construction work?
You are totally free to build your ship as you like within its boundaries of the hull's available unit limitation. So it's up to you to decide what you want to have in your ship and what not! Each of your spaceships consists of 7 different types of components:
- Hull (this is basically how the ship will look like and determines the basic attributes of your ship as well as your unit limitation for components),
- Power Generators (these are needed to power the different components of your ship - the remaining power will be used for the propulsion of the ship itself)
- Primary Weapons (lasers, blasters...)
- Secondary Weapons (missiles, torpedoes... - these have limited capacity)
  - Missiles (missile/torpedo types used in your secondary weapons)
- Shield Generators (energy / kinetic damage absorption...)
- Special Devices (there are several different types of special devices which can help your ships overall performance - let's say it's all the gimmickry for your ship)

How does the component upgrade system work?
Each of your components has several different attributes which can be enhanced. It's totally up to you to decide how often you want to upgrade a certain or multiple different attributes. However each upgrade comes with its cost. You are losing a certain amount of durability from your component on each upgrade attempt. The amount of durability loss and your success chance depends on the components type, the selected attribute, an optional moderator and your engineer's skill. This system allows the creation of very rare and unique components which you can use for your own ships or you can sell them on the market.

How about the economy of the game?
- Money: The name of the currency in Galaxy Online is Xenon Credits (xc). As already mentioned in the story line, everyone starts out with the same financial means provided by Xenon Net. Additionally you are receiving a basic daily income. The basic income determines how many ships, commanders and engineers your corporation can maintain. During the ongoing tournaments you are earning more and more tournament points which are honored with increased income.
- Resources: There are 4 different types of resources: Iridium, Tritanium, Quantum and Antimatter. You are able to build mining ships and send them into different mining sectors to gather resources. The resources can either be sold to Xenon Net or kept and used for repair orders and refining. Depending on the corporations overall mineral reserves and their sales activity, the amount of xc per kT (kiloton) you can receive from Xenon Net will vary on a daily basis.

What about your crew?
You can hire Commanders and Engineers.
Commanders are solely used in tournaments. They will be responsible to command your ship and take it to victory. Commanders have multiple skills which will affect the outcome of a tournament. During the battles your commander will earn XP which will reward you with skill points. Those skill points can be used to raise specific skills.
Engineers are used in construction/repairing/disassembling of spaceships and in upgrading your components. Engineers have multiple skills which will increase the effectiveness of their actions. During those actions your engineers will also earn XP which will reward you with skill points. Those skill points can be used to raise specific skills.

What about tournaments?
You are able to choose between different types of tournaments. In order to register in a tournament you need to specify your spaceship, a commander and set your action points. Once registered, you will be matched against another player. Upon completion of the tournament, both players will be notified and receive a replay of the tournament. This replay will help you identifying the strengths and weaknesses of your ship. Depending on the outcome of the tournament you will be ranked in the ladder. You may also receive tournament points and XP for your commander. In the course of the game you will accumulate more and more tournament points which will raise your tournament level. The higher your tournament level the higher your basic income. From time to time the Xenon Corporation will hold special tournaments - winners will be awarded with additional money, resources or items.

What are action points? NEW
Depending on your Commanders active and passive command skill, you will have a specific amount of Active & Passive Action Points at your disposal. There are 4 different types of Active Action Points (AAP):
- Primary Weapons
- Secondary Weapons
- Shield Generators
- Special Devices
Your Primary and Secondary Weapons as well as your Shield Generators and Special Devices need to charge a specific amount of AAP before they will go off. Each combat round your ship will receive 1 AAP of each type for free (except Special Devices). However you will be able to assign additional AAPs during the tournament registration process in order to strengthen your strategy! There are also 6 types of Passive Action Points (PAP) available:
- Attack
- Defense
- Focus
- Repair
- Primary Weapons
- Secondary Weapons
Those PAPs are directly tied to your Commanders equivalent passive skills. During the tournament registration process you will be able to provide a specific amount of PAPs depending on your Commanders passive command skill. You can even use multiple PAPs of the same type. However this will result in diminishing returns.

Who is developing Galaxy Online?
Galaxy Online is developed by me.  The idea for the game was born in 1999. However at this time I didn't have the experience to create such a game by myself. So the real development started in my spare time in 2010 when I finally finished most of the game's design documents and began to code the core elements of the game.

Will this game be free to play?
Yes this game will be free to play. However, since I have more features up in my mind and to cover ongoing server/development cost, I will add optional premium subscriptions for players who want to support the continuous development of this project.

Where can I find information about the progress/status of the game?
You can find the latest development status here.

Will this be a browser game?
No,  you will need to download a small client application. The client will update itself, so you always stay up to date.

What are the software requirements?
- Operating Systems: Windows 7 / Windows Vista / Windows XP SP3
- .NET 4 Client Profile
